Marriage Class

Tonight was our first night to attend marriage classes with Father Tom. I was pretty nervous about going and Todd was really crabby about it when he got home from work! Then while he was showering his pager went off for a house fire in Burwell; I was just sure he would have to go to it so he could get out of classes! He opted not to go, so we headed downtown to Pizza Palace buffet before going to Ord.

We got there a smidge early, so we did about a 5x drive by of the church! :) We went in and the first few minutes were a little awkward, but things slowly improved after they starting talking basketball! Then we were taken to another room where we sat at a table and answered 156 questions related to "our marriage." You either agree, disagree or are uncertain about each questions. We were informed that you can get each question wrong twice (once for not agreeing with your partner and second for not agreeing with the religion). Some of the questions were quite comical, but now we will full understand eachothers TV and gambling habits!

Finally we had to fill out a "Prenuptial Agreement" with the Priest. It included information about us, our parents, our religious background and if we were pressured into this marriage! After settling on our 'courtship' being for approximately the last 65 months were were out of there! (The sad part is, Todd was right on the length of our relationship...not me!)

We set the date for our next meeting and headed home to watch Burn Notice! We are Omaha bound tomorrow morning with Sam & Kendra...can't wait for a weekend of fun!

Update...

Well, its been a few days since I posted anything so I thought I would just blog an update! This past weekend we attended a wedding in Burwell. Our friends, Carrie & Will, were married on Saturday. I always love weddings, but now I like to go get ideas as well! :) Rehearsal was fun...it was a bowling party! The wedding was beautiful, reception goregous and dance...a blast! I took away many ideas from the day (thanks Carrie!).
This morning I came home to work three nights in a row! It was like Christmas all over again, as my bed was full of packages that came in the mail while I was gone! I received the ring bearer pillow, which I am pleased with! I love the simplicity of the cake serving set that came. I also received some ribbon and samples in the mail.
This coming weekend Todd and I are leaving for Omaha on Friday to go to the Big Buck Classic with Sam & Kendra (it is becoming our yearly tradition). I am hoping to hit up a few wedding related stores along the way!
Thursday night, Todd and I also will be starting our marriage preparation classes! Well, that is all for now...update you all again soon!

Productive Night on Call...Thus Far!

Tonight I was supposed to be working, however, we are down in numbers and so I am on call. Mom and Dad went to the movie 'The Blindside' in O'Neill so I'm kicking it at home with the cats! After I got home from church tonight I decided I should take full advantage of my time and work on some wedding stuff. I started out looking at the invitations I am going to do and deciding on how much paper I would need to order based off of the number of invitations I could get out of each sheet. A few measurements later and that is done! Now it is awaiting the finalization of the guest list so that I know how many invitations I need to make...so I did a little bit on that and worked on finding some addresses! Now I am contemplating going downstairs and pulling all the leaves off the floral stems I have, however I am not sure if I want to be THAT ambitious tonight! We might save that for Monday!

This morning I ordered two items for the wedding! The first being a Ring Bearer Pillow which I found on Ebay, the second being a Silverplate Serving Set from ExclusivelyWeddings.Com. I can't wait to get them both in the mail!

Hair Appointments....check!

Mark another thing off the list...the hair appointments are penciled in! Since I have only had my hair cut in Burwell once I didn't know for sure who to go with for the wedding updos. I asked around and ended up going with the ladies at Finishing Touches in Burwell. I will probably also have to get a couple in at the other place, but at least I have someone booked for the majority!

The Search is Over!

Pheww...the paper samples came in the mail today and they are PERFECT! I ordered 3 different colors, now I just have to figure out what combo I like to create the perfect invitation. Now I need to get me a little satin ribbon, some double sided tape and I am in business! Now I suppose I should figure out the details of the ceremony so that I can start on the wording! Wow, what a relief!

Classes Begin...

As most people know, when you get married in the Catholic church you have to take these classes. After talking with the Priest I have learned that it will be about 8 one hour classes to "prepare" us for marriage! Today I called Father Tom and set up the first encounter! We are going to meet with him on Thursday, January 28th! Shall be interesting to see how they go...most people we have talked to who took them with him say it really isn't that bad! I did promise Todd that every night we go we can probably go out for supper since we have to go to Ord to meet with him, and for those of you who know Todd...he was all for the food idea!

Let's Dance!

Well another step in the right direction, this morning I mailed off the contract and deposit check for the DJ. We are going with Complete Music out of Kearney. After speaking with them on the phone they seem to be very professional and have a wide variety of personalities to choose from! Right now we are planning no background music and to just go with a 5 hour dance (8-1)...

Can't wait to dance the night away, if you can't find me that night...check the dance floor!!

Minor Freak Out...

Today I went to Grand Island to hang out with a couple of friends, Megan & Amanda. We met for lunch and then were going to shop the afternoon away! While sitting there eating lunch, I busted out the 'green binder' which is filled to the brim with wedding related items. I was showing the girls my dress and showing them the book of bridesmaid dresses. Then Sparr said "well, do you want to go look at some?" Of coarse we agreed and we headed over to Bridal Collections. After looking at a few of the Alfred Angelo bridesmaid dresses I tried on the dress I had picked back in November to wear for my wedding! I slipped it on, someone zipped it up and out I came. Wait a minute...what size is this? Did it zip up completely? OH NO....
The dress is one dress size smaller than what I ordered and it zips up and was even a little big in areas! Umm, is that ok!? :) So outside I went to call Cindy at the Bridal Loft in Burwell (where I ordered my dress). I wanted to find out of my dress could be altered down that far or if I'd really messed up! Thank goodness she said the seamstress won't have a problem taking it down a size...phewwww!
Check...our first minor freak out outta the way, and all for nothing!

Paper Searching...

Yesterday was a great day in this grueling invitation search I have been on! I just can't find what I like that isn't too expensive. I have never even considered having them printed, because I just want to use money on other areas of the wedding! Yesterday, I woke up mid afternoon and was getting ready for another night of work when I walked through the kitchen and on the table was a wedding invitation that had been sent to my parents....it was beautiful! So of coarse I had to pick it up and start investigating to see if I could produce something similar. I also had to email the girl to see if she did it herself and see what kind of paper it was! Thank goodness she is awesome and has already replied to me! I don't plan to completely copy her invitations, but I do very much like her layout and design! She did awesome! Now I am just paper searching to find this type of paper at the cheapest rate and having samples of those sent to me! I'm so excited to be on the downhill side of this invitation search. Just ask any of my friends it has been completely consuming any free time I have had! :) Phewwww.......

We Have Rooms!

Finally finalized blocking off hotel rooms today! The last hotel returned my calls and now we have 43 rooms reserved (28 in Burwell, 15 in Ord). I try not to stress, but I am hoping with the other places available around the area that is enough rooms! The three hotels include the Rodeo Inn, Pump & Pantry Motel and the Airport Inn. There are also numerous Guest Houses, Campgrounds and Bed 'n Breakfasts in the area!
