Frustration!

I know I am probably a little early in looking for invitations, but it gives me something to do! However, I didn't know it would be so frustrating! I don't need something all big and fancy that costs alot because people just throw them away! I figured I could do something pretty simple and use the money elsewhere in the wedding!

Ok so with that in mind I found some invitations I like, however the kits they make these things in are ridiculous. I think I should go into the invitation making business so that I can design a kit that is worth a damn! I either want to buy every piece individually OR find a kit that has the invitation, response card and thank you note all in one! The kits I have found come with envelopes for the response card, which I can deal with but I would rather just use them as postcards. They also have favor boxes...ugh...the dilemma :)

More Flowers...

Yesterday I went to Kearney with Emily to watch State One Acts. Of coarse my trip had to include some wedding shopping! I now realize that everytime I travel to the cities between now and October 9th I will more than likely be purchasing something wedding related! Thank goodness for Hobby Lobby still having 50% off floral stems because I still had a few to buy since I cleaned out Norfolk's supply the week before! I also had realized, which woke me up in the middle of the night a few days ago, that I didn't have anything to make a tossable bouquet! OOPS! :) No worries now, we got it!

This morning I woke up realizing that the floral shop I have created in Abbey's room is going to have to be moved. (Christmas break starts for her on Wednesday.) I just don't think she will appreciate multiple vases filling her room!

As far as the rest of the wedding planning goes I have slacked a little here lately. I am working on the catering, however, one lady I am waiting to hear back from is out of town for another week...so that continues to be on hold. I have looked through several invitations and have still not decided for sure which to get! The guest list is slowly continuing to increase in numbers!

Last but not least in our wedding prepping Todd and I need to figure out when to take our classes with Father Tom. We are looking at starting those in January...eeks...but it will be nice to get them going and completed!

Flowers

Today was another big day in the wedding planning. My friend, Emily, and I went to Norfolk to take advantage of the floral stem sale at Hobby Lobby! I worked last night so we left about 1 p.m. Of course we had to throw in some Christmas shopping and a birthday supper for Emily! (Happy Birthday, Em, you are the best!)
We hit Hobby Lobby about 3:45 and walked out one hour later with a huge bag full of floral stems! Emily and I walked the three aisles of floral stems for a bit, looking things over and then started grabbing! We started picking things to make my bouquet. After adding/subtracting, a few mmm maybe/mmm nah and "o that's perfect" we had roughly put together the perfect bouquet! We then worked on the bridesmaids bouquets, mimicing mine only with a little different color base! Finally on to the numerous male boutonniere's and mother's corsages!
A little floral wire, tape, along with a couple rolls of ribbon and now Abbey's room looks like a mini floral shop! (Thanks Ab, I knew you wouldn't mind!)
I can't wait to get started, the colors are beautiful (even my dad agreed!). I feel relieved to have those decided and am itching to get started!

The Dress!

Today my mom, soon to be mother-in-law and I went dress shopping in Burwell. I wanted to start here in hopes to find something I liked to cut down on travel!
We got there about 1 p.m. and I showed the lady some styles that I liked and we headed upstairs to see what we could find! She kept my dressing room full and I was in and out of dresses so quickly with her help! :) I tried on about 8-10 dresses. I think it was about the 4th one I tried on that I said...ya know I would have never picked this out off the hanger, but I really like it! I remember people saying similar things about their dress buying experiences! As I tried on more and more I kept thinking, ya know I just don't like this as much as that one I tried on! So back on "the one" went and I walked around in it and we put a veil and beaded headband to complete the look...it was beautiful! The dress comes with some color on it but I didn't want any color on my dress...so luckily you can order the color parts the same color as the dress, which is what I did! A few measurements, couple tears shed by the mothers, and one spendy check later...the dress is purchased!

Let The Planning Begin...

Well, I'm a pretty organized person...but right now I feel a little overwhelmed with the planning! We have set the date -- October 9, 2010. The wedding will be in Ord and the reception to follow in Burwell.
I have the photographer, colors picked, and am trying to figure out the music. I just feel like there is more I need to be figuring out! Thank goodness I have aunts that make cakes so I don't have to figure out where to get that!
Tomorrow my mom and I are heading over to Burwell to the Bridal Loft to try on wedding dresses. They carry Alfred Angelo dresses and I have previously worn that designer in my friend Alicia's wedding. I really liked the dress and am hoping that I equally like their wedding dresses! I am starting in Burwell and hoping it goes well because it would be SO CONVIENT to not have to travel for fittings!

November 14, 2009 -- Engaged!

Deer Season!

Todd and I got up at 5:45 this morning to go hunting. He has been seeing some bucks around but due to the number of people in his family that hunt we decided to go up north on Rowse's pasture (where Todd keeps his yearlings in the summer). We had previously seen 4 descent muley up there and hoping to spot them again!
As we drove up there we noticed quite a few people around that area...well, its deer season anything is possible! So we ventured west into the pasture to find a hillside to perch on to wait for the big one. As we were sitting there we saw a few doe running around. So being impatient, Todd said we should walk around a little bit and look for the buck! We ended up in the southwest corner of the pasture and all of the sudden there was a little fork whitetail about 30 yards from us. Todd bent down behind me and I could hear him fumbling with his backpack (I thought he was getting his camera to take a picture of the deer, cause it wasn't shot worthy!). Pretty soon I heard him "Amanda." I kept watching the lil buck and said waht...pretty soon he says "Amanda" (a little more insistently). I replied with a typical answer that Todd would tell me "Todd...shhh...there is a deer." Then VERY insistenly he repeated "Amanda." So I turn around and much to my surprise see him down on his knee with a ring glistening in the morning sunrise! As you can tell I said yes and as they say the rest is history! :)
The rest of the day was full of letting everyone know about our special morning thus far! (Little did I know, a lot of our friends knew this was coming and some had even seen my ring...which Todd kept hidding in a scope box!)
